How Our Volunteer Support Works for You

If we determine that our service is a good fit, we’ll match you with a carefully selected, trained volunteer who has parenting experience. They will visit you regularly, offering 2-3 hours of support each week in the comfort of your own home.

Our volunteers provide both emotional and practical support, tailored to what you need and what we agree will be most helpful. Our flexible support includes:

  • A listening ear and someone to talk to
  • Adult company for companionship
  • Help with and playtime for your children
  • Reassurance and encouragement
  • Assistance in finding and accessing local services and amenities
  • Motivation and support to stay positive
  • Practical help with everyday tasks

With Home-Start, you’ll receive the personalised support you need to feel stronger, more confident, and better able to manage life’s challenges.

How to Access Support from Home-Start West Berkshire

If you're a parent in need of support, please give us a call at 01635 760 310 or learn more about our referral process on this page. The referral form is straightforward, and you can fill it out yourself. If you need assistance, don’t hesitate to call or visit our office, or you can ask someone like your GP or health visitor to complete it for you. The information you provide helps us ensure the support we offer is the right fit for your family’s needs.

Once we receive your completed referral form, we’ll reach out to arrange a visit. During this visit, we’ll discuss the challenges your family is facing, the support you need, and how we can best assist you.
