We’re delighted to announce that next month we will be running two brand new volunteer induction courses here at Home-Start West Berkshire!
It’s been some time since our last volunteer training – in fact, due to low numbers, we haven’t been able to run a course since February this year. That’s why we’re so excited to welcome new people who want to make a difference to local families.
Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, and the work we do makes a difference. For example:
- Chinyere, a mother referred after baby loss and domestic abuse, regained her confidence through the support of a volunteer and Baby Bank provision. Her son, initially behind in speech and language milestones, is now thriving in nursery thanks to our Hello! Early Communication Project.
- Amy, experiencing severe postnatal depression, found a lifeline in our Perinatal Support Group and home-visiting volunteer. Her mental health scores improved significantly, and she now feels able to engage positively with her children and wider community.
- Through our Preventing Family Poverty project, families facing unemployment, housing instability, and food insecurity have accessed both practical items and emotional support, helping to prevent crises and ensure children’s needs are met.
