We know the holidays can be a long hard slog for parents and finding activities for different aged children can be a real challenge so Home-Start West Berkshire was ready to come to the rescue with a free fun day out. The Nature Discovery Centre provided the perfect location with a small contained wooded area, based in Thatcham, it is a short walk from the town and has plenty of parking. They made available a range of resources for us to use such as painting materials, water funnels and good old-fashioned mud pie making equipment. It was great to see the children enjoying the outdoors, climbing trees and foraging for leaves and feathers.
Thatcham Lakes is great place to entertain children of all ages with two play areas, one for little ones and one for older children and a centre packed full of interactive wildlife and natural history displays. There is a network of footpaths ranging from small family-friendly walks to longer paths for the more adventurous.
